The Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) held the 55th Annual Leadership Institute this week in Louisville and Muhlenberg County Schools were well represented. Superintendent Orr led the conference as this year's KASA President. Leaders across the district met together before the conference began for a district retreat. School Board Vice-Chair Susan Wells presented a discussion over the book 5 Voices to the group and highlighted the importance of communicating effectively.
At the opening session of the Annual Leadership Institute, the Muhlenberg County High School Choir led by Mrs. Melanie Smith were invited to perform by singing the National Anthem and My Old Kentucky Home. The Muhlenberg County High School JROTC Mustang Battalion led by LTC Andrew Wagner, 1SG Timothy Peveler, and Drill Team Commander Cadet MAJ Chase Fulkerson presented the state and nation's colors. At the conclusion of the session, President Orr shared eight Lessons for Life & Leadership that reflected on her education career, her role as a mom, a daughter, a wife and a sister.
President Orr stated that throughout the conference, school leaders attended a variety of workshops and educational sessions to gain valuable knowledge and to inspire them to use that knowledge to nurture emotional and academic growth for our students, staff and families. "The theme for the conference, Connect, Collaborate, and Celebrate, encouraged all participants to connect with friends, collaborate with colleagues across the state, and celebrate the awesome work of educators and districts from around the nation," Orr added. Over two thousand Kentucky educators witnessed the talent along with the heart of Muhlenberg County Schools throughout the Annual Leadership Institute.
